Challenge

Avery Products Corporation is the leading manufacturer of printable labels and cards in the US, dating back to the invention of the self-adhesive label nearly 80 years ago. In an effort to meet consumer demand for premium quality and high print volumes, Avery introduced a new print-it-for-you business called Avery WePrint™. WePrint offers a full line of customizable, professionally printed labels and cards with quick delivery to customers’ homes and offices.

As a part of the project, Avery needed to develop a scalable checkout solution without replacing their incumbent content management system. They partnered with Gorilla to create a customized solution built on the Magento Enterprise platform.

Approach

Gorilla initially worked with the Avery team to define requirements and determine which Magento components to customize and integrate with existing systems. Then, while the design team matched the styling of the existing Avery site, the technology teams worked to seamlessly connect the two.

Single sign-on was leveraged to make the transition between systems invisible to end users. Gorilla modified Magento’s configurable product detail page to function with the Avery home-grown design tool, enabling complex pricing scenarios for both fixed and variable order quantities. This allows customers to efficiently customize their order, verify pricing, and move directly into the checkout flow. Post-launch, Avery is hosted on Gorilla’s dedicated cloud environment.
