New York-based, venture-backed Bonobos is a rapidly growing, rabidly followed online men’s fashion designer and retailer that differentiates itself from other apparel companies by offering a better fit, and a better shopping experience. Bonobos turned to Gorilla to create operational efficiencies, achieve a better return on their ecommerce investment, and provide them with an ecommerce solution that could scale as they grew. The results aren’t monkey business.


To free Bonobos from their costly to maintain legacy ecommerce platform, Gorilla migrated the entire site, product catalog and customer database to Magento Enterprise. However, tighter integration with their back-end systems was also needed to create real ecommerce efficiencies. A core of the Bonobos business model is their no-hassle return policy: “any pant, any time, any reason”. To make the process manageable, Gorilla built a completely customized RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) module that retrieves customer, order and payment data, calculates refund and product exchange options, and auto-generates return labels from their shipping partner, UPS. To facilitate Bonobos’ free domestic shipping policy, we custom integrated Magento with their Enterprise fulfillment partner to create cross-system communication that automates the fulfillment process.
