Challenge

A leader in product development in the healthcare industry, CareFusion supplies tools and technologies, from patient identification systems to ventilation and respiratory products, to health centers and hospitals. Looking to revamp the online channel for their century-old surgical instrument division, V. Mueller, CareFusion partnered with Gorilla to develop a responsive design solution with a unique user experience on the Magento Enterprise platform.

Approach

CareFusion’s V. Mueller division prides itself on the quality of its surgical instruments, knowing that small details in the hands of a surgeon can make all the difference. The Gorilla team took a similar approach when kicking off this multiphase project. The overarching goal was to create a better user experience for both their customers and field sales team.

The B2B site's responsive interface delivers intentional experiences across devices. This was implemented in direct response to customer requests for the ability to shop the site on tablets as well as desktop computers. Our back-end development team integrated SOLR search to aid product discovery, which includes the ability to look-up competitor's products and find equivalent V.Mueller products. We also set up a custom grouped product page with hand-picked recommended instrument trays for a variety of surgical specialties.

Our design team implemented a clean interface that reflects the CareFusion/V. Mueller brand, while keeping the products as the site’s primary focus. We further customized the experience with the addition of “build a tray” functionality, allowing users to configure product trays according to their preferences. This gives customers greater flexibility over their purchases, and allows sales reps to quickly customize orders onsite.
