Adhering to the attention to quality and handcrafted methods that define the “maker movement” has made Garrett Popcorn Shops® a Chicago Tradition that’s quickly becoming a worldwide favorite. Garrett was faced with the need to boost conversions and sales through their ecommerce channel, as well as better present a brand and user experience reflective of the Garrett Popcorn brand. Garrett Popcorn Shops subsequently partnered with us to devise a comprehensive ecommerce strategy that included the redesign and migration of their flagship site.
We closely collaborated with the Garrett team throughout the user experience and creative phases, consultatively addressing the impacts of design decisions big and small. This resulted in a gorgeously responsive designed site that incorporates rich product photography within a framework that blends the primary shopping funnel with the storytelling, philanthropic, and community aspects of the brand.
To add necessary functionality and scalability, the site was migrated to the Magento Enterprise platform. We worked further to integrate Magento with Garrett’s back-office systems. We then developed build-a-tin functionality that enables customers to quickly personalize their orders from over 3500 possible flavor and packaging combinations.
Working within an aggressive timeline, we were able to maintain scope to have the site operational in time for the busy year-end gift-giving season. This coincided with the 65th Anniversary of Garrett Popcorn, along with their largest ever promotional campaign, which resulted in the highest visit and order volumes the new site has experienced, with no impact to site performance. Post-launch, the site is hosted on Gorilla's cloud hosting environment and supported by our Managed Services.

Gorilla created a revived take on the classic home page slideshow. Hot-spot interactive points engage users in the brand’s backstory, in way that inspires and improves the length of engagement, while guiding users further into the conversion tunnel.
A favorite for everyone
Utilizing Magento’s featured products module, Gorilla tapped into some key marketing potential by highlighting favorite flavors. The new flavor-first browsing and purchase path is reinforced with taste-bud-tingling short descriptions, which appear on mouse-over.
Foregoing any complex live feed modules, Gorilla implemented a simple, static CMS block, which makes this Instagram promotion as simple to manage as it is attractive.
The iconic tin from Garrett Popcorn Shops® is available in a variety of sizes and designs, often varying by season. Gorilla created a highly organized and efficient configurable product to guide users through the 3 click configuration, which manages over 30 combinations.
A shop near you
Gorilla integrated Google maps to give users quick and extremely simplified access to location information across the globe. Through customization, a modular based tool allows for easy management of locations. As always, responsive design and development brings this information to the hands of mobile and tablet users.

Typography can be exceptionally important in establishing a brand’s voice. The chosen typefaces are a combination of type rooted in historical advertising for strength and clarity, in contrast to a fun, handwritten font.
