Challenge

With its exclusive roster of sports superstars, including Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant, and Blake Griffin, Panini Authentic offers one-of-a-kind game-used collectibles and autographed memorabilia to avid sports fans and collectors. In creating Panini Authentic’s new ecommerce channel from the ground up, Gorilla’s game-plan combined customized design, development, and back-end integrations to create an online brand and shopping experience that is, well, memorable.

Approach

Site design brings users “closer to the game” by highlighting the brand’s most valuable asset, the athletes themselves. We tapped into the flexibility of the Magento ecommerce platform to add enhanced product-level attributes and image display options unique to Panini's marketing strategy. Ecommerce capabilities were expanded through a custom module that manages user requests to have their own items autographed. A unique “hologram lookup” feature allows site users to instantly verify the authenticity of any Panini product.
